Last seen playing an encounter specialist in cop thriller Thuppakki Munai, actor Vikram Prabhu is all set to star in a new yet-untitled project in Mani Ratnam’s production. To be directed by Dhanasekaran, an erstwhile assistant of Mani Ratnam; the film will also star GV Prakash Kumar as one of the leads.

Aishwarya Rajesh and Madonna Sebastian have been roped in to play the leading ladies. Apparently, Vikram Prabhu and Aishwarya will be paired together and GV Prakash and Madonna will make the other pair.

The film has music by 96 fame Govind Vasantha, and he had recently expressed a lot of excitement in signing this film under Mani Ratnam’s production. He had shared the news on his Instagram page last November.

“With the man who brought Velunayakan and Anandan to life in front of us.  Honoured to have signed up for a movie to be produced and co-written by The Mani Ratnam. Directed by Dhana Sekaran,” read his post.

The project is said to go on the floors very soon and the makers are yet to finalise the rest of the cast and crew.

Rumour has it that Mani Ratnam, who has co-written the film, was originally supposed to direct the project. However, due to his other commitments with respect to his next project, which is rumoured to be a film adaptation of popular Tamil epic Ponniyin Selvan, he couldn’t take up this film.

Hence, he decided to produce it under Madras Talkies banner. According to latest reports, Ratnam may soon revive it with Vikram, Vijay Sethupathi and Jayam Ravi in the lead.

Telugu actor Mohan Babu has been approached for a crucial role in this epic project, which is slated to go on the floors next year. Lyca Productions is most likely to bankroll the project. Apparently, buoyed by the success of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Lyca has agreed to come on board to fund Ratnam’s dream project.
