Nadigar Sangam General Secretary actor Vishal on Wednesday evening dismissed rumours of rift between ‘Thala’ Ajith and him, terming them as ‘baseless’ while addressing a press conference.

“I don’t think Ajith needs to explain his reason for absence at the event. Everything is fine between Ajith and me and I respect him immensely. If I have to stop a song from playing, I will stop playing my own song”, said Vishal, adding that he was very disappointed by the way Times of India had published a report on the rumoured rift, reported Thanthi TV.

“I felt really bad and I expressed my disappointment to the journalist from Times Of India, as well. I am one actor who is at arm’s length. He could have clarified the issue, but instead chose to go-ahead and publish the baseless story. Why create a rift that did not even exist in first place?” questioned the actor.

He went on to clarify that he respected actor Simbhu’s opinion but as the General Secretary he also had the right to voice his opinion.

“The cricket event was conducted as per rules and regulations. I love him as an actor, I love him as a brother but as a General Secretary I have an opinion and that is that his comments could have been avoided but still I respect him,” he said with regard to Simbhu.
