The makers of Chai-Sam’s upcoming movie Majili released the trailer at a pre-release event held on Sunday. The trailer was launched by actor Victory Venkatesh in the presence of the couple and also actor Nagarjuna.

From the trailer, Majili seems to be an emotional romantic drama, where Chaitanya seems to convincingly play the role of an alcoholic. The two-minute long trailer begins with Poorna (Chaitanya) listening to the famous Hindi melody ‘Lag jaa gale’ while his father bickers in the background on how his son is a good-for-nothing drunkard, who lives off the earnings of his wife. Samantha, playing Sravani, is shown to be a dutiful wife who despite her husband’s alcoholism is desperate to save a falling marriage.

The trailer then moves to Poorna’s past, and his childhood sweetheart Anshu. Divyansha Kaushik as Anshu is refreshing and plays the role of a north Indian girl living in Vizag. The couple is shown parting their ways, forced by Anshu’s parents, and thus begin Poorna’s drinking problems and his aversion towards marriage.

Sravani, who earns well, is not shown trying to mend Poorna’s drinking habits but rather saves him from people who ridicule and try to change her husband for good. At the end of the trailer, as Poorna suggests a solution to the marriage, Sravani pleads him not to go for a divorce.

The film is much awaited as it marks Chai-Sam’s first film post marriage. They were previously seen together in Ye Maya ChesaveManam and Autonagar Surya. The film also marks actor Divyansha Kaushik’s debut in Tollywood.

Majili is directed by Shiva Nirvana, who had made his debut with Ninnu Kori starring Nani, Nivetha Thomas and Aadhi Pinisetty. The music for the film has been composed by Gopi Sundar, who previously worked with Naga Chaitanya in the Telugu Premam. The film is produced by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi under the banner Shine Screens. The film is all set to release on April 5.
