‘Oonjala Oonjala Urah' song from Aishwarya Rajesh’s upcoming film Kanaa was released on Monday. The song shows the actor preparing for her role as a cricketer in the film. And the amount of physical work that has gone into playing the part is quite evident from this video.
The visuals of a determined Aishwarya practising cricket, complement the lyrics of the song as well - ‘Unnai vittal unnai vella, yaarum indha mannil illa’ (there’s no one except you to win over yourself in this land).
She’s seen flexing her muscles at a gym and practising her throws, both indoors and on a pitch. And like any beginner, she falls down, nurses the wound and gets back up again.
Aishwarya seems to have put in a good number of hours practising both outdoors and indoors, including at the gym, to prepare herself for the role.
Kaana follows a woman cricketer, who overcomes challenges to make it big in the sport. Directed by lyricist-turned-director Arjunraja Kamaraj, the film is being produced by actor Sivakarthikeyan.
This song, by Sid Sriram and Niranjana Ramanan, has been composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas. The lyrics have been penned by Mohan Rajan.
The movie stars Sathyaraj, Aishwarya Rajesh, Dharshan, Ilavarasu, Munishkanth alias Ramadoss, Rama, Savari Muthu and Antony Bhagyaraj.
The release date of the film is yet to be announced. The trailer, which was released on August 23, has received a good response so far.
Chennai 600028, Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, Jeeva and Irudhi Suttru are some of the few sports-related films in Tamil. Kanaa, with a woman lead, joins this short line-up.
With Kanaa being one of Aishwarya’s most anticipated projects this year, she has a long line of films awaiting release, including Dhruva Natchathiram and Saamy 2 with Vikram, Vada Chennai with Dhanush and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam with a big star cast. The actor rose to fame with her performance in Kaaka Muttai, which released in 2015.
