Car catches fire on busy Bengaluru flyover, chokes traffic

The fire was caused by technical error in the vehicle

A car caught fire on Marathahalli flyover in Bengaluru on Friday evening. There were no reports of any injuries.

According to a source from HAL police station, a Maruti Suzuki Swift caught fire around 6:30 in the evening, which resulted in a major traffic jam between Marathahalli and Bellandur.

The incident happened near Intel office on Marathahalli road.

“So far the information we have is that the car caught fire because of some technical failure. Theyre were no casualties and no one was injured,” the source said.

“Before we could reach, people were trying to put off the fire using water from their bottles,” he said.

“The vehicles kept on moving even as the fire grew bigger. Police tweeted asking people to take a different route,” he added.
