The News Minute| February 4, 2015| 11.50 am ISTPraveen Togadia, a leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and a man who has almost 20 cases registered against him across the country for hate speeches, has been prevented from entering Bengaluru city by the city police.Togadia has been banned from participating in the Virat Hindu Samajotsava scheduled on 8 February in National College ground.Using his additional powers as the executive magistrate of Bengaluru, Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi ordered the ban on Togadia from February 5 to 11.But this has not deterred the VHP. The organization has declared that Togadia will come to Bengaluru, no matter what the police says, “Togadiaji will come to Bengaluru. We are approaching the High Court against the police order,” Karnataka VHP leader Gopal Nagarakatte told The News Minute.Nagarakatte in fact says the police move was positive, “The police banning Togadiaji has actually given us publicity.”Nagarakatte said: "We have organized 8 samajotsavas in the past and there has been no law and order problem." During a Hindu Sangama oraganized on January 17 in Puttur, a town near Mangalore, 19 people had been injured in clashes that broke out after Praveen Togadia addressed the rally.Read: RSS leader urges Hindus to carry knives, swords to "save Hindu Samaja"Bengaluru police commissioner M N Reddi however seems determined, “Different groups of people live in Bengaluru which is cosmopolitan. We cannot permit somebody who habitually delivers hate speeches to come here and disturb the peace and tranquility."The Commissioner is said to have received intelligence reports which recommended action against Togodia.
