With merely two weeks left for the assembly elections, the battleground is heating up.

Complaints against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and opposition leader VS Achuthanandan were filed before the respective returning officers on Saturday, pointing out discrepancies in the assets declaration in their nomination papers filed for the upcoming assembly elections.

According to reports, the Congress alleged that Achuthanthan had not declared the assets that were acquired in his name while he was heading the CPM mouthpiece ‘Deshabhimani’ and ‘Chintha’, while the LDF alleged that Ommen Chandy had not declared his ancestral property in the affidavit.

Meanwhile, both the LDF and the UDF have complained against PC George, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Poonjar constituency in Kottayam after severing ties with the UDF, alleging lack of clarity in the details he declared in his nomination paper.
