The office of the Nair Service Society in Nemom area of Thiruvananthapuram was attacked on Thursday night by unidentified men. The attackers have also reportedly placed a wreath in the office in the name of General Secretary Sukumaran Nair.

According to a report by Mathrubhumi news, Sukumaran in a press statement released by the NSS said, “Three offices of the NSS, which has been peacefully protesting against the SC verdict on Sabarimala, have been attacked. We know who is behind all this.” The report states that although the NSS General Secretary has claimed that he knows who is behind the attack, he refused to give out any names in the statement.

As per reports, Sukumaran Nair said that the attackers must remember that NSS has the strength and capacity to deal with any kind of attack that comes their way.

The NSS has been vocal against the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of all ages entry into the Sabarimala temple. G Sukumaran Nair had also lashed out at the state government on October 26, ”The state government’s stand, which goes against the beliefs of the devotees, is both immoral as well as anti democratic.”

Friday’s statement also slammed the state government, on a different issue. Sukumaran accused the government of trying to create a division among Hindus by increasing the reservation for backward castes in the Devaswom recruitment from 32% to 40%.
