High tension prevailed outside the DGP office in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, when the family of Jishnu Pranoy – the Nehru college student who was found dead in the college on January 6 – attempted to protest within the office against the delay in probe.

The Thiruvananthapuram police arrested and forcefully removed Jishnu Pranoy's family, including his mother. 

Jishnu's mother Mahija, father Ashokan, uncle Sreejith and 11 other members had reached DGP Loknath Behera's office on Wednesday morning, to protest against the delay in probe. 

While the protesters were on their way to the DGP office, the police blocked them a little away from the office. The police prevented all the protesters from going in to the office and maintained that only 6 people will be let in.

When Jishnu's family resisted this, they were forcefully removed from the spot. 

Women police personnel dragged away Jishnu's mother Mahija on the road, when the latter resisted the arrest. 

"I am a grieving mother, who has been fighting for her son for the last 3 months. I have the right to be here, my son should get justice," Mahija said. 

Though Jishnu's uncle had appealed to the police that they would carry a peaceful protest, the police arrested them, after negotiating with them for a few minutes. 

Although all the 14 protesters were first believed to have been taken to the AR camp in a police van, latest reports suggest that they are being taken to Poojapura police station. 

DGP is believed to have met them at the police station.

It has been three months since the death of the 18-year-old student.
