Four youngsters were arrested by police for attacking Malayalam film producer Maha Subair in Kochi.

Producer Maha Subair, production controller Badushah and hotel Edassery Mansion's security guard Prakash, were attacked at 10pm on Tuesday by a group of youngsters who were drunk.

They are being treated at the Ernakulam Medical Trust hospital.

Antony, Muhammed Isham, Calton and Henrick are the arrested youngsters and police have booked a case of attempt to murder against them.

“They were a group of 12 youngsters and were completely drunk. They bought around 40 beer bottles in three hours. After they got drunk they came out of the parlour and abused whoever passed by. When the security guard questioned them, they attacked him brutally. Following this, a few film people who were there tried to stop them from attacking the security guard. Meanwhile, when Subair came to the spot, they hit him with an iron board without any provocation,” Ernakulam North Sub Inspector Vipin Das told The News Minute.

He said others also will be arrested soon.

As per the reports, the accused were drinking at the Edassery Mansion beer and wine parlour since Tuesday afternoon. Later at night, they started assaulting the security guard Prakash. When Subair and Badushah who arrived at the parlour questioned them, the youngsters attacked the producer using a no-parking board. Subair suffered serious injuries on his head.

Subair is a renowned film producer in Malayalam. His hit movies include Meesha Madhavan, Manassinakkare and Paleri Manikyam under his production banner Varnachithra.
