The Kerala House in New Delhi has once again become the epicentre for demonstrations over the Centre’s new notification on cattle slaughter. 

On Thursday evening, cow vigilantes held a protest outside the Kerala House against the LDF and UDF for carrying out agitations against the Centre’s regulation banning the sale of cattle for slaughter in animal markets. The protesters barged into the Kerala House and distributed cow milk. 

PTI reported that there were at least 14 people belonging to the Bharathiya Gauraksha Kranti, who entered Kerala House at around 8 pm. 

Eyewitnesses told PTI that the protesters blocked the main entrance and got into an argument with the police, when officials questioned them over permission to hold such a protest. While Kerala House Resident Commissioner Vishwas Mehta reportedly denied knowledge of the incident, he filed a police complaint with the Delhi police on Friday. 

Mehta told ANI that he has requested the Delhi police for additional protection.

He also said that Kerala House should not be used as a venue for political demonstrations. 

In October 2015, a major controversy broke out after "beef fry" was taken off the menu at Kerala House after allegations that cow meat was being sold. However, the buffalo meat was back on the plate days later.
