The Information and Public Relations Department of Kerala has published an advertisement titled Jishnu’s Case to distinguish the facts from what is being propagated.

The advertisement is apparently a move to limit the damage caused to the government by the police excesses on Jishnu Pranoy’s parents who protested in front of the DGP office on Wednesday. Jishnu’s parents were protesting to demand the arrest of all the accused in the case. On Thusrday, the CPI (M) State Secretariat in a statement had justified the police action.

The advertisement, which appeared in some dailies on Saturday, is an attempt to elaborate on the action taken by the government to bring the culprits to book and clear any misconceptions in the case. “In Jishnu's case, what everybody has been propagating is against the truth. The truth is that the government's action in this case is in the right direction, without any lapses. The police have filed a case against five accused in the case. They have been charged with abetment to suicide, conspiracy, distortion of evidence and fabricating documents,” the advertisement reads.

It also says that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Kiran Narayan is investigating the case. Jishnu's mother and relatives have expressed faith in the investigation.Police have been probing the case, in which only circumstantial evidence exists, using scientific methods. “The government decided to approach the Supreme Court when the High Court gave anticipatory bail for the accused,” it says.

Meanwhile BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan said on Friday that only criminals in the CPI (M) could justify the police action against Jishnu Pranoy’s mother Mahija. A student of Nehru of College of Engineering, Thrissur, Jishnu was found dead at his hostel room in January under mysterious circumstances.
