On Sunday morning, the couple had taken the daughter to the Kollam Government Medical College Hospital after her condition began to worsen. As per reports, the officials at the Kollam Medical College referred the child to SAT hospital for Women and Children in Thiruvananthapuram. The couple were also said to have been accompanied by a woman civil police officer after the doctor notified the police  station regarding the bruise marks on the girl’s body.

As the daughter’s condition began to deteriorate on the way to Thiruvananthapuram, she was admitted to the CSI Mission hospital at Kazhakootam, where she passed away around 10 am. Following this, the parents were taken into police custody and a case of unnatural death was registered till the postmortem report arrived.

It was only around 6 pm on Sunday, that the surgeons from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, where the postmortem was conducted, informed the police that the daughter was suffering from pneumonia, which was the cause of the death. Following this, the parents were released by the police.
