Petrol, diesel prices slashed, but Kerala remains unaffected

Written by : TNM

TheNews Minute | April 1, 2015 | 5.30 pm IST Petrol price was on Wednesday cut by 49 paise per litre and diesel by Rs 1.21 per litre across the nation except for one state. The reduction in price will not be effective in Kerala as the fuel sales tax has gone up in the state. Kerala’s budget for 2015-16 slapped an additional tax of Rs 1 per litre on petrol and diesel. This additional tax is effective April 1 onwards. The petrol price in the state is Rs 67.18 and including tax it will now cost Rs 68.18. The cost after deducting 49 paise will still be higher than the current cost. The Centre’s decision to reduce fuel rates will not make any difference in Kerala. Tweet Follow @thenewsminute
