In a major development in the infamous Solar scam case in Kerala, the LDF government on Wednesday decided to register a Vigilance case against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday, days after Justice Sivarajan commission submitted its inquiry report. The government has reportedly accepted all the recommendations by the commission.
The inquiry has found that the former CM had direct links with the solar scam.
Apart from the former CM, criminal case will registered against former Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan for allegedly helping Oommen Chandy in the case. A case of sexual assault will be registered against persons whose names featured in a letter written by Saritha Nair, including Jose K Mani, KC Venugopal, Aryadan Muhammad, Hibi Eden, Adoor Prakash, Anil Kumar and Benny Behnan. The Solar Commission has said that getting sexual favours will be treated as a case of bribe.
Cases will also be registered against Oommen Chandy's staff members in Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.
Reading out the findings of the solar commission, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the commission had found that the former CM's staff had taken bribes and vigilance cases will registered against them.
Commission report and action report will be tabled in the assembly in six months.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan gave out the details of Justice Sivarajan Commission inquiry report in a press meet held in Thiruvananthapuram. Addressing media persons, Pinarayi said that the commission report was divided into 4 volumes and contains 1073 pages. In the 4 years since the commission was set up, it has questioned 214 witnesses and examined 812 documents, the CM said.
