BJP MP and ex-cricketer Kirti Azad has made sweeping allegations in a press conference on Sunday hinting at widespread corruption in the DDCA during Arun Jaitley’s tenure as president.

Here are 5 things he said:

DDCA awarded contracts to fake companies. Companies like Genesis Net Labs did not exist. Payments made to bogus companies.

DDCA hired office and other equipment at Rs. 16000 for a laptop per day, Rs. 3000 for printer per day, Rs. 5000 for ‘puja ki thali’.

14 companies in DDCA contract list, whose bills cleared by DDCA in cash, had fake addresses.

Crores were doled out to companies without stating the nature of work to be done. The prices of tenders were inflated by DDCA members.

Contracts worth crores given without verification. No executive meetings held before passing of bills.

What is the DDCA?

The Delhi and District Cricket Association is a body that promotes cricket in Delhi and surrounding districts, and organizes cricket tournaments including T20 tournaments. However, it is not a society unlike other cricket bodies, but a private limited company. Around 300 of its 4,600 members are corporates.
