Acid attack survivor and activist Laxmi, known for her campaigns against acid attacks on women in the country, has now become the brand ambassador of clothing brand Viva N Diva.

According to the Hindustan Times, "the initiative marks the beginning of a campaign, led by Viva N Diva, in which more acid attack survivors will get the chance to be faces of different brands."

“Such initiatives change mindset. I have personally experienced it when I got my first anchoring assignment," Laxmi told HT.

The report also quoted Ayushi Rastogi of Viva N Diva as saying, "To the eyes that are used to seeing fashion models dolled up in front of cameras, this view was both disturbing and inspiring. For a moment, we saw beauty in a very different way and all that we could think of was to capture it in a way that gave it meaning."

Rastogi further said, “We have worked with Laxmi like we work with any other model — both in terms of payment and profit sharing as well as in terms of the shoot.”

Laxmi was sixteen years old when she was attacked with acid by a man who was twice her age, because she had rejected his advances and turned down his proposal for marriage.

In 2014, she received the International Women of Courage Award from US First Lady Michelle Obama.

Last year in March, Laxmi and her partner Alok Dixit became proud parents to a beautiful daughter.
