Jayalalithaa’s health worsens: TN police on high alert, Governor returns to Chennai

Several key officers of TN government, ministers of the state and close aides of Jayalalithaa are at Apollo now.

Soon after TN CM J Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai, the state of Tamil Nadu went on a high alert.

According to highly placed sources in the police department, the entire TN police force has been mobilized to prevent any untoward incident and maintain law and order.

Several key officers of TN government, ministers of the state and close aides of Jayalalithaa are at Apollo now.

There is increased police presence at Apollo Hospital in Chennai.

TNM has also learned that the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Vidyasagar Rao, flew out of Mumbai to Chennai on Sunday evening. 

Apollo Hospital in Chennai released a statement on Sunday evening stating that the TN CM suffered a cardiac arrest. The hospital said that she is being treated by a team of cardiologists, pulmonologists and critical care specialists.

Reports state that the health of the CM is critical and that she is back in the critical care unit. 

According to sources, she developed complications this evening.

She was admitted to hospital on September 22. She has been under respiratory support since then.
