It was more a question of when, rather than if.

BJP MP Kirti Azad has been suspended from the party on Wednesday for his recent vitriolic remarks against BJP leader Arun Jaitley on his alleged role in the DDCA scam.

The action by the party comes after the Parliament session came to an end. Kirti Azad had been summoned by the BJP party chief Amit Shah, but in spite of repeated warnings, Kirti Azad went ahead with a press conference on the DDCA scam.

He had also tweeted saying he was not scared of 'Napunsak' leaders.

Azad, who is an MP from Darbhanga in Bihar, had on Sunday held a press conference making several allegations about numerous irregularities and mismanagement in the running of the DDCA’s affairs during Jaitley’s tenure as president.

The DDCA row erupted last week after the CBI raided the office of the Principal Secretary of the Delhi government Rajendra Kumar, following which Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the agency was actually interested in files related to the DDCA in which Jaitley was allegedly in the dock.

After it was reported that Jaitley filed separate criminal and civil defamation cases against Kejriwal and five other senior AAP leaders, seeking Rs 10 crore as damages, Azad had almost dared the Finance Minister to sue him too for defamation.

It was more a question of when, rather than if, as action against him was being widely speculated.
