Rajan Katoch discharged from additional role as ED Director for scuttling National Herald case?

Senior IPS officer Karnal Singh has been given additional charge as chief of ED

Nine days after BJP leader Subramanian Swamy wrote two letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for not taking action in the National Herald case, Rajan S Katoch has been discharged from the additional role of ED director that he held.

However, he still continues to serve as the Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industry. In a letter dated August 11, a copy of which is with TNM, Swamy alleged that the director "seems to have no interest in pursuing any matter connected with the Congress Party, perhaps, due to the fact that he is a close relative of Digvijay Singh, who is General Secretary of the Congress party."

Senior IPS officer Karnal Singh has been given additional charge as chief of ED and The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Singh's new appointment, a report in IBNLive adds.

The National Herald case is about two companies, the Congress party and real estate. The ED prominently deals with two laws, The Prevention of Money Laudering Act (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) to keep a check on black money.
