Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik have become proud parents to a baby boy. The news broke after Malik tweeted about the arrival of the baby on Tuesday morning.

Taking to Twitter, Malik wrote: “Excited to announce: It’s a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled. #BabyMirzaMalik.”

Shoaib Malik’s manager Ameen Haq also confirmed the news on Twitter and wrote that while the mother and baby are doing fine, the father is over the moon.

The hashtag #BabyMirzaMalik has already begun trending on Twitter with a couple of celebrities expressing their heartfelt wishes to the couple on the arrival of the baby.

Earlier in April, when the ace tennis star announced her pregnancy, she also added that the couple had decided to give their child the surname- Mirza Malik.

"Today I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about it and we have decided that whenever we have a child, the child will have Mirza Malik as a surname and not just Malik. So that's where we stand as a family including my husband. He actually wants a daughter," Sania said during a panel discussion titled ‘Gender Bias’ at the Goa Fest 2018.

While Sania is currently on a break, she is looking at making a return to the tennis court for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
