With heightened focus on renewable energy in the wake of challenges like climate change, an energy sustainability initiative by a school in Puducherry can set an example for other similar institutions in the country.

The Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education (SAICE) in Puducherry produces three times the electricity it consumes, a video recently uploaded on YouTube states.

The school uses solar power to meet all its energy needs and has been self-reliant in energy since September 2014.

According to the video's description, the school "has adopted energy efficiency and renewable energy to produce three times the electricity it consumes, thus supplying surplus green and clean electricity to the neighborhood."

The video has been made by Shubhankar Bhattacharya, a student of SAICE.
