Two months after the poll debacle, 15,000 DMDK cadres have planned to join the DMK, S Parthiban, founder of MDMDK said on Wednesday.

Parthiban had formed MDMDK following the shock announcement by DMDK founder Vijaykant to not form an alliance with the DMK in the assembly elections.

Parthiban along with three other rebel DMDK contested the elections forming an alliance with the DMK.

Speaking to the media in Salem, Parthiban said that the decision was taken because 70 % of the DMDK cadres were unhappy with the functioning of the party.

"We also believed that the funds from the trust were being used for wrong reasons," Parthiban added.

Vijaykant who chose to align with the Vaiko-led PWF lost his deposit in the elections and his party failed to win any seats.
