36 suburban trains between Chennai Beach and Velachery cancelled on Sunday

The Southern Railway has announced the cancellation of local trains on the MRTS line between Velachery and Chennai Beach on Sunday. As per the announcement, train services on the MRTS line will be suspended between 8 am and 2.10 pm on Sunday.

The official announcement was posted on Southern Railway’s Facebook page, saying that the cancellations are due to engineering works which are scheduled to be carried out on the line. 

“According to priority to Passenger Safety and Safety of train operations, Line Block is permitted in Chennai Beach – Velachery MRTS section (Mass Rapid Transit System) to facilitate various Engineering works,” read the post.

Adding that the suspension would be in place for six hours on Sunday, the announcement stated that 36 services will be cancelled as a result of the suspension.

The details of cancelled trains from Chennai Beach to Velachery are as follows:

EMU services starting from Chennai Beach at 08.00 am, 08.20 am, 08.40 am, 09.00 am, 09.20 am, 09.40 am, 10.00 am, 10.20 am, 10.40 am, 11.00 am, 11.20 am, 11.40 am, 12.00 am, 12.20 pm, 12.40 pm, 1.00 pm, 1.20 pm, and 1.40 pm are cancelled on Sunday, the 29th September, 2019.

The first train from Chennai Beach towards Velachery after the suspension will leave from Beach station at 2 pm on Sunday.

Similarly, in the return direction, EMU services starting from Velachery at 08.10 am, 08.30 am, 08.50 am, 09.10 am, 09.30 am, 09.50 am, 10.10 am, 10.30 am, 10.50 am, 11.10 am, 11.30 am, 11.50 am, 12.10 pm, 12.30 pm, 12.50 pm, 1.10 pm, 1.30 pm and 1.50 pm stand cancelled on Sunday. The first Velachery – Chennai Beach EMU after the block will leave Velachery at 2.10 pm.
