Days after actor Dhanush appeared at the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court, which is hearing a petition from on old couple from Melur claiming to be his real parents, a school principal in Chennai has stepped forward to back Dhanush’s claims, stating that he studied in her school from LKG to Class 10, and that they have documents to support it.

Speaking to The News Minute, Sudha Venkateshkumar, Principal of Thai Sathya Matriculation Higher Secondary, said, “In 1987, Kasthuri Raja and Vijaylakshmi admitted Dhanush to our school. His elder sisters, Vimala, Geetha and Karthika Devi, also studied in the school. His mother Vijaylakshmi used to drop him and pick him up from school every day,” she said.

She added that the Class 10 mark sheet is a government document and it clearly proves that he studied in their school. “I was his history teacher in Class 10, and also his principal. We have his Class 10 mark sheet. All his old teachers are still present in the school. One of his LKG teachers still teaches in the school,” she said.

“I feel very sad when I hear about this case. I have only known Kasthuri Raja and Vijaylakshmi as his parents,” she said.

In October 2016, a couple, R Kathiresan (65) and his wife, K Meenakshi (53) sent a legal notice to actor Dhanush and claimed that he was their elder son Kalaichelvan, who was born to them in 1985 at Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. They alleged that he had run away from home to join films in Chennai when was in Class 11.

Burdened with debt and suffering from medical issues, the couple approached the court demanding maintenance of Rs 65,000 per month. They also added that they tried to meet the actor on many occasions but he did not meet them.

On Tuesday, actor Dhanush appeared before the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court to prove that he did not possess the identification marks that were mentioned in the evidence provided by the complainants who claimed that he was their son.

The petitioners had submitted a transfer certificate in court which was issued by the headmaster of a Melur Government School, which stated identification marks of the pupil. Dhanush submitted an affidavit in court stating that he did not have any mole on the left clavicle bone part or a scar on the left elbow.

The Dean of the Rajaji Government Hospital was at the court hall on Tuesday with his assistants to follow the court's orders. The actor was then reportedly examined in the registrar's office.
However, the court adjourned the case hearing for March 9, 2017.
