Cyclone Gaja: Southern Railways releases list of cancelled, partially cancelled trains

Here is the full list of trains that have been cancelled and partially cancelled.

Even as Tamil Nadu waits in anticipation of Cyclone Gaja, the Southern Railways has cancelled trains in districts of Tamil Nadu that are expected to be affected by the storm. The cyclone, which is expected to make landfall between Pamban in Ramanathapuram district and Cuddalore district, currently lies 470 km south-east of Chennai and 550 km north-east of Nagapattinam.

While some trains have been fully cancelled, other trains are partially cancelled, that is, the train will not complete its full journey. In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Southern Railways announced, “Due to Gaja cyclone alert in Tamil Nadu, eight trains are fully cancelled and eight other trains are partially cancelled. While some trains are cancelled on November 15 and 16, a few other trains are cancelled only on November 15.”

Here are the changes:

Fully cancelled on November 15

1. Train No.s 56829/ 56830 Tiruchchirappalli – Rameswaram – Tiruchchirappalli Passenger trains

2. Train No.s 56723/ 56724, 56721/ 56722, 56725/ 56726 Madurai – Rameswaram – Madurai passenger trains

Partially cancelled

1. Train No. 22661 Chennai Egmore – Rameswaram Sethu express, scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore on November 14, will run upto Manamadurai and partially cancelled between Manamadurai and Rameswaram.

2. Train No. 22662 Rameswaram – Chennai Egmore Sethu express, scheduled to leave Rameswaram on November 15, will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Manamadurai.

3. Train No. 16851 Chennai Egmore – Rameswaram express, scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore on November 14, will run upto Manamadurai and will be partially cancelled between Manamadurai and Rameswaram.

4. Train No. 16852 Rameswaram – Chennai Egmore express, scheduled to leave Rameswaram on November 15, will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Manamadurai.

5. Train No. 16780 Rameswaram – Tirupati express, scheduled to leave Rameswaram on November 15, will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Madurai.

6. Train No. 22621 Rameswaram – Kanniyakumari express, scheduled to leave Rameswaram on November 15, will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Manamadurai.

7. Train No. 16734 Okha – Rameswaram express, scheduled to arrive Rameswaram on November 15, will be short terminated at Madurai.

8. Train No.16733 Rameswaram – Okha express, scheduled to leave Rameswaram on November 16, will be partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Madurai.
