Yasin, the 7-year-old boy from Erode has been showered with praise for his honesty. The little boy handed over a bag containing Rs 50,000 that he had found to the police through his school authorities last week. But possibly one of the biggest plaudits Yasin has received came to him on Sunday, from none other than superstar Rajinikanth.
Speaking to the media with Yasin held close to him, Rajinikanth praised the child’s honesty and agreed to sponsor the rest of his education.
"In this age where people cheat, thieve and kill even for a little money, he (Yasin) said that this is not my money and handed it over. What honesty, really. It is a great quality," Rajinikanth told media persons outside his residence in Chennai’s Poes Garden.
The actor also praised Yasin's parents, who were also standing next to him, and conveyed his heartfelt wishes to them.
On sponsoring his future, Rajinikanth said, "He is studying in a government school now. So let him continue studying there. After this, whatever he desires to study I will sponsor him. He is a big inspiration to everyone and every child,"
Rajinikanth also invited Yasin and his family - his parents and older brother - and spent time with them at his Poes Garden residence. A smiling Yasin and Rajinikanth were photographed talking to his parents, with the little one seated on the actor's lap.
Yasin is a Class 2 student in the Panchayat Union Primary School in Chinna Semur near Kani Ravuthar Kulam in Erode district. On Thursday morning, he spotted a wallet near a speed breaker on the road leading to his school. It had Rs 50,000 in 100 Rs 500 currency notes. He picked it up and handed it over to the headmaster of his school, who took him to meet the Superintendent of Police (SP) Sakthi G.
The SP praised the boy and his teachers for the gesture and directed the police to help the boy out in whatever way possible. The police, in turn, gifted school uniforms and other utilities to the boy.
