After furore on social media over Anand Aravinddakshan being declared the winner of Airtel Super Singer despite being an established playback singer, Judge and singer Srinivas said it was unnecessary to rake up the past and the highest votes has gone to Anand Aravind Dhakshan.
“Public voting makes up for 50 percent and our votes make up for 50 percent. He was Number 1 in public voting and 2 in Judges votes. 2+1 is 3 is 1.5. So he is at the No.1 position.”

Faridha was number 2 in public voting and 3 in the judges voting, so she is at number 2 position. Rajaganapathy was number 1 in the judges marks and 5 in the public voting, making him number 3.
“I am only focused on the music, nothing else,” he said. “I may give a contestant half a mark more than other judges, not because of favouritism. Taste in music is also subjective. I am simply doing my job.”
The Facebook post had said Anand was previously a playback singer for many popular films and the win was unethical as the show is believed to exhibit raw and new talent. The post claims that the singer was initially eliminated in one of many rounds on the show, but brought back on a wildcard entry.
Vijay TV says that Anand being a playback singer was no secret.
Pradeep Milroy Peter, Head of Programming spoke to The News Minute and said, “In our rules and regulations, it is nowhere mentioned that people from movies or people who have done playback singing cannot be part of the show.”
