The father of a 12-year-old has accused the academic dean of Narayana Etechno School in Chennai of beating his son severely and has filed a police complaint.

The dean allegedly beat his son for not pasting a picture in the school diary. The father filed a Community Service Register (CSR) report at K-8 police station in Arumbakkam, reported The Times of India.

There are minor wounds and some swelling, the child’s mother Elizabeth Stanley told The Times of India.

Elijah John Mathew, the child’s father said that he was promised by the principal that such incidents would not happen again after a similar behaviour in July when the child was beaten by his Mathematics teacher, reported TOI.

The mother said that the child was shaken after the incident and this can harm the child psychologically also. Moreover, she added that her son does not want to go back to school.

Meanwhile, school principal Usha Venkatesh told TOI that the dean had only held the hand of the child firmly while questioning him. There have been no injuries because of it. She said that the schoolteachers are trained how to handle such situations in school while adding that anyone who is found guilty of corporal punishment will be terminated.
