Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa appointed an Indian Institute Management, Ahmedabad graduate G Ramachandran as the new secretary of the IT wing of the party on Monday to spearhead the party’s online campaigning.

G Ramachandran hails from Singanallur constituency in Coimbatore district. Jayalalithaa has asked party cadres to extend full co-operation to Ramachandran, according to The New Indian Express.

Ramachandran skipped IIM’s campus placement in March last year to enter politics. He was inspired by AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa.

According to TNIE, Ramachandran’s inspiration to join politics comes from his late father Singai Govindarasu, who was an MLA from Singanallur from 1991 to 1996. Ramachandran also contested for student’s affairs council election at IIM-A and became general secretary.

He did his schooling at PERKS Matriculation Higher Secondary School. He did his diploma (EEE) at PSG Polytechnic College and BE (ECE) at PSG College of Technology, after which he joined IIM Ahmedabad for post-graduate programme in 2013, according to TNIE.

Party sources told TNIE that Ramachandran was likely to start working for the party from Tuesday and will begin online campaigning for state elections for the party.
