Man behind alleged rape of Chennai engineering college student nabbed

The News Minute | December 27, 2014 | 04:03 pm ISTThe man responsible for allegedly sexually assaulting an engineering college student in Semmenchery has been caught by the Chennai police on Saturday. The suspect, working with a well-known IT firm on Old Mahabalipuram Road had posed as a pooiceman and taken the girl to his rented house on his motorbike on the pretext of an investigation and then raped her, reported The Hindu. The man was identified from CCTV footage after which he was tracked down to his house. By then, he had already skipped town to Karaikudi.The police then picked him up in Karaikudi, said the report. According to police, the suspect had photographed and videographed the girl before dropping her, said the report.
