A disturbing video has emerged from Tamil Nadu: During a protest against NEET, a woman police officer is trapped in a sea of people, and while her colleagues are trying to pull her out, one of them seemingly touches her inappropriately. Whether he did it deliberately or accidentally is not known, but the struggling woman attempts to push away his hand multiple times. The video has created quite a stir in the state, and Tamil Nadu DGP TK Rajendran has now ordered a probe into the incident.

The woman in the video is a sub inspector from Coimbatore and the man whose video has gone viral is Assistant Commissioner (AC) R Jeyaram.

The incident took place while students were protesting for 17-year-old Anitha, who took her life after she was unable to get a medical seat. The police were attempting to detain the protesters in a waiting bus.

When TNM contacted the AC over the video, he cried foul. "There was a protest happening and I had to control the situation. I had no other intentions or motive. I had to intervene to ensure the task was completed," he claims.

Then why does it look like he continued to grope her, even when she forcefully pushed his hand away?

"I didn't even notice that it was a woman standing in front of me," he says. "I am sure I didn't do it repeatedly. Media is putting the visuals on loop and showing me in bad light," he alleges.

Coimbatore Commissioner A Amalraj has taken cognisance of the video and told TNM that an enquiry is underway in the matter. No action has been taken against the Assistant Commissioner as yet despite the video.

The sub inspector has not come forward with a complaint against her superior.
