As CAG, Vinod Rai tabled the report in Parliament that estimated the alleged scam led to a presumptive revenue loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore, due to non-auctioning, to the exchequer.
Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal told mediapersons on Thursday that the entire case was a “scam by Vinod Rai.”
“I had always maintained that this was no scam. It was a scam by former CAG Vinod Rai. We stand vindicated ... The telecom sector is in dire straits thanks to Vinod Rai and then leaders of opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha,” he said.
Aaj meri baat siddh ho gayi, koi corruption nahi, koi loss nahi. Agar scam hai to jhooth ka scam hai, vipaksh aur Vinod Rai ke jhooth ka. Vinod Rai ko desh ke saamne maafi maangni chahiye: Kapil Sibal,Congress #2Gverdict pic.twitter.com/nHTCTyiziC

“Vinod Rai’s presumptive allegations have been proved wrong. He should apologise,” said Veerappa Moily, another Congress leader, after the 2G verdict was declared.
Not only Congress Party is clean, Vinod Rai is guilty of misusing his position and spreading fake propaganda! Vinod Rai must apologise and also step down from his government position. #CongressIsClean

It wasn’t just Congress leaders who demanded Vinod Rai apologise. Other users also took to Twitter on Thursday to ask the ex-CAG to apologise and explain what he meant by his presumptive loss statement in his report.
