A few days after sidelined AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala applied for parole to see her ailing husband Natarajan, prison officials have stated that the application is being examined.

The officials will also communicate with Tamil Nadu police to check the health condition of her husband.

Sasikala, who is lodged at the Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru, on Monday applied for a 15-day parole to visit her ailing husband M Natarajan, who is admitted at a hospital in Chennai for liver failure.

A senior official from the prison department told The New Indian Express that they will look into the application after verification. He said that the doctors have confirmed about her husband’s health condition.

He also added that they are checking if there are cases against her in other courts in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu. He also claimed that the parole plea has not been rejected till now.

Moreover, the Karnataka prisons department will be writing to the Tamil Nadu police regarding the health condition of M Natrajan. They have also called for legal opinion on the parole, reported The Hindu.

The prison department will be asking the police department about the security that will be provided to her once she leaves Bengaluru and reaches Tamil Nadu.

Sasikala and Natarajan have been estranged for years, with the sidelined AIADMK leader having chosen to stay with former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her residence in Chennai until her conviction in the Disproportionate Assets case.

The Supreme Court in February set aside the Karnataka High Court verdict acquitting Sasikala and two others, and had upheld the trial court's judgement. Sasikala is serving her four-year imprisonment at the Bengaluru jail.
