AIADMK‘s ‘ousted’ leader TTV Dhinakaran on Monday said that his aunt VK Sasikala had shot a video of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa when she was undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
He claimed that they will submit the video to any inquiry panel set up by the government.
This comes two days after state Forest Minister Dindigul Sreenivasan made a shocking revelation that they lied about Jayalalithaa’s health when they did not even see her.
Speaking at a public meeting in Madurai on Friday night Sreenivasan said, "We would have told lies that she (Jayalalithaa) had idlis and people met her. The truth is that nobody saw her."
Addressing the media outside his residence on Monday, TTV Dhinakaran said that the footage shot by Sasikala was available with the hospital. “But we have a footage shot by Chinnamma (Sasikala), after Jayalalithaa insisted that she take a video because she had lost a lot of weight,” The Times of India quoted him as saying.
Explaining why they had not released the footage earlier, he said that Jayalalithaa was wearing a night wear in the footage and the former Chief Minister always wanted to look dignified.
Denying allegations that Sasikala had controlled the management of Jayalalithaa while she was in the hospital, he said that his aunt was with Jayalalithaa since her admission on September 22 but after October 1, she was only allowed to meet her for a couple of minutes as doctors had restricted visitors due to fear of infection, the Deccan Chronicle reported.
On Monday, the government named retired High Court judge Justice A Arumughaswamy to lead the probe into her death.
Moreover, Jayalalithaa’s nephew J Deepak also raised questions, asking why Z plus security personnel were not present at Apollo Hospital when she was admitted there.
