70,44,289 biryani servings a year: Paradise enters the Limca Book of Records

The restaurant also bagged the award for ‘Restaurant serving the best Biryani’ at the Asia Food Congress held in Mumbai.

Restaurant chain Paradise, known for its world famous biryani, has entered the Limca Book of Records 2019 for dishing out the maximum servings of biryani in a year. The Hyderabad branch of the restaurant, in 2017, served over 70 lakh plates of biryani to its customers. To be more precise, the food court sold 70,44,289 servings of biryani between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017.

“Limca Book has recorded that Paradise Food Court has sold 70,44,289 biryani servings between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017...The achievement is recorded in the 2019 edition of the Limca Book of Records,” the restaurant said in a press release issued last week.

The restaurant also bagged the award for the ‘Restaurant serving the best Biryani’ at the Asia Food Congress held in Mumbai. The chairman of the Paradise food court, Ali Hemati, was also given Lifetime achievement award for his contribution to food, restaurant and hospitality services.

“Entering the Limca Book of Records and being rated as the Restaurant Serving Best Biryani by the Asia Food Congress give us twin joy, and a testament to the love our loyal customers shower on us,” Gautam Gupta, CEO, Paradise Food Court, told Business Line.

Paradise restaurant was founded in 1953 in Hyderabad and began as a small café serving tea and snacks. The restaurant slowly grew in popularity and is now world renowned and an integral part of the Hyderabadi cuisine. The restaurant now has multiple branches across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and also in Bangalore and Chennai.

The restaurant only recently walked away with the ‘Swiggy Public Choice for Biryani – Delivery’ award and the Telangana State Hotels Association (TSHA) ‘Pride of Hyderabad’ award. The prestigious Wall Street Journal has also rated the Paradise Biryani as the ‘Best Hyderabadi Biryani’.
