BJP appoints K Laxman as Telangana party president

He has twice served as the State General Secretary. K Laxman was also appointed as National Secretary BJP in 2010

Musheerabad MLA the BJP’s Floor Leader in the Assembly Dr K Laxman has been made Telangana state president. 

Dr. K Laxman will take over from Kishan Reddy who was appointed in 2012. The announcement was made at a media conference in Delhi on Friday.

In July 2014, Laxman landed himself in a controversy with his comments on Sania Mirza. When she was announced Brand ambassador of Telangana, he called her a Pakistan’s daughter-in-law, and said that she was unfit to represent India. These unnecessary remarks obscured the larger concerns he raised about student scholarships and nativity clause made these remarks during a media conference.

Dr Laxman started his political career with the BJP in 1980 as a student leader in Osmania University. He was elected president of students’ union as a member of the ABVP. In 1995, he was appointed as City General President for Hyderabad. He went on to win the Musheerabad constituency in 1999.

He has twice served as the State General Secretary. K Laxman was also appointed as National Secretary BJP in 2010, and he was finally appointed as Floor leader 2014.
