Irked at the Telangana police’s decision to deny permission to the Telangana Joint Action Committee’s (TJAC) proposed ‘Koluvulakai Kotlaata’ meeting proposed to be held on October 31, TJAC Chairman N Kodandaram moved the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday.

This also comes after the TJAC was denied permission from the state police for organizing a ‘Amarula Sphoorti Yatra’ (Telangana Martyrs Inspiration Yatra) earlier this month.

It must be recalled that a similar meeting planned by the TJAC earlier in February, under the banner Telangana Unemployed Students JAC was also cancelled, after the police had denied him permission.

Disgruntled with the police, TJAC chairman Prof Kodandram has approached the High Court on Wednesday.

“We will hold it either at Saroonagar stadium or at LB Nagar based on the permission of the police. Even Nizam college grounds or NTR stadium is alright for us,”Kodandram told The Times of India.

TJAC has planned to have a huge gathering in Hyderabad on October 31 titled ‘Koluvulakai Kotlaata’ (fight for jobs), to discuss unemployment, which is a major crisis in the state.

The TJAC had earlier planned for a two-day yatra touring Nalgonda, Yadadri, Bhongir and Suryapet on October 21 and 22. However, they had to shun the plans after police denied them permission.

Despite Kodandram’s undertaking that the protest rally would not disturb the law and order of the state, police still denied to give permission to the TJAC.  

Considering TJAC’s plea, the judge, Justice S V Bhatt directed the counsel for the state government to file a counter affidavit detailing the reasons for denying permission.

The judge also directed the petitioner, Kodandram to file a fresh application seeking permission from the police within two days by including details of the events. The case was postponed to November 11, reported Deccan Chronicle.
