Popular Telugu actor K Varun Tej and nephew of  Chiranjeevi met with a minor accident at Rayanipeta in Wanaparthy district on Wednesday night when the Mercedes Benz car he was travelling in rammed into a TATA Indica. The four persons travelling in the Indica suffered minor injuries while the actor and three others escaped unhurt, said the police.

The Kothakota police have booked a case against Varun Tejas’ driver. The actor was travelling to Bengaluru from Hyderabad with his driver and two others to attend a movie shoot.

“At Rayanipeta on the highway, Varun’s car crashed into the Indica from behind. The driver of the Indica vehicle turned left to go towards Rayanipeta village and the Benz car driver could not slow down the vehicle in time due to speeding. Four persons in the Indica suffered minor injuries and we booked a case against Varun Tej’s driver Anil under Section 337 of the IPC. After the accident, the actor and his friends left in another car. The driver is in our custody,” Kothakota police said to Times of India.

While some reports say the Indica car was driven by a drunk youngster, the ToI report blames the driver of the Benz car for overspeeding.
