Owing to high passenger traffic along the Miyapur - LB Nagar route during peak hours, the L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has decided to increase train frequency along this stretch. The announcement that came in the form of a tweet said that train frequency along the route is being increased to one train in every 6 minutes during peak hours and every 7 minutes during non-peak hours.

The Hyderabad metro witnesses peak hours between 8 am and 12 pm and in the evening between 5 pm and 9 pm. This is the second time this year that the Hyderabad metro will be increasing their train frequency. In April this year, the train frequency was increased to 7 minutes during peak hours. A total of 21 trains ply along this route carrying an estimated 2 lakh passengers daily.

The red line of the Miyapur-Ameerpet-LB Nagar route became fully operational on September 24 this year and has since then turned out to be the most used route along the metro rail. With the 46-km stretch operational, the Hyderabad Metro is now India's second largest metro rail network after Delhi.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) had earlier said that nearly 30,000 people used their Ameerpet and LB Nagar metro stations every day in October alone. The Hyderabad Metro operates 12 trains along the Nagole-Ameerpet stretch, with one train 6:30 minutes during peak hours and 8 minutes during non-peak hours.

According to a Hyderabad Metro release, these trains undertake a total of 550 trips per day, with 284 trips on Corridor 1 between Miyapur and LB Nagar and 266 trips between Ameerpet and Nagole.

The Hyderabad Metro has also commenced its first trial run on the Ameerpet-Hitec City stretch, that forms Corridor-3 of the project. This 10-km stretch between Ameerpet and Hitec City has eight stations and is expected to open in 2019.
