The SHE Teams division of the Hyderabad City Police is organising a run on Sunday, March 17 at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road in the city as part of commemorating International Women’s Day. The run, titled ‘V R 1’, will be the first event under the banner V R 1, a unique initiative set up by the Bharosa and SHE Teams, who have been actively hosting programmes and events for women’s safety and dignity in the city.
Making a formal announcement, Shikha Goel, additional CP, Crimes, Hyderabad, wrote on Twitter, inviting citizens to register for the event.
The run is divided into three categories – 10 km, 5 km and 2 km. The event will be flagged off with the 10 km run which will begin at 6.30 pm.
Those interested in participating in the run can register online at www.ifinish.in or collect the registration forms from the Bharosa Centre reception at the HACA Bhavan in Saifabad.
After registration, the participants can collect their race kits from the Bharosa Centre.

According to the Bharosa and SHE Teams, V R 1 is an effort to get maximum people from all walks of life, especially students, professionals and children, to participate in the run so as to inculcate the habit of looking at each other with respect and make Hyderabad one of the safest cities in the world.
On the evening before the run, the organisers are also planning an entertainment event at People’s Plaza with music bands from Hyderabad performing, to increase visibility for the run and to make all visitors to the popular spot aware of the concept.
SHE Teams was introduced in the state in 2014 with a motto to provide safety and security to women and to curb crimes against women. Bharosa is an integrated support centre for women and children that was established by the city police in 2016. The centre helps resolve conflicts in families and provides services related to police, medical, legal and psycho-therapeutic counselling.
