Nikhil Reddy, who underwent a controversial limb-lengthening surgery, in Hyderabad on April 5, 2016 has made an attempt to stand on his legs with the support of a walker after three months.

However, the walker could help him stand successfully for only two seconds. This was the first attempt made by his surgeon Dr G Chandra Bhushan to help Nikhil stand on his legs after the surgery.

The Times of India reported, “There is still no bone growth in the gap left after the limb lengthening surgery, making it difficult for him to take his body weight on his legs. Though he had a walker, he could not take the pain,“ said S Govardhan Reddy, Nikhil's father.

The 23-year-old techie from Hyderabad who stands 5.7 feet tall, wanted a height enhancement of two inches. He spent close to Rs. 4 lakh rupees on the surgery and thereafter was in a lot of pain. At one point, he even wanted to stop the treatment.

The Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the case, which is under investigation.
