The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) on Wednesday issued notices to three top government officials in connection with death of two labourers in a manhole in Hyderabad on May 1.

Following a complaint, the APSHRC ordered issuance of notices to Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board(HMWSSB) and Hyderabad Police Commissioner.

It asked them to submit their reports by July 20.

Two labourers -- Veera Swamy and Kotaiah, were found dead in a manhole at Kapadia Lane in Hyderabad’s Sulatanbazar area and it was suspected that they died due to inhalation of poisonous gas, police had said.
