At a time when Hyderabad is looking to set up more breweries and promote tourism by extending night life in the city, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) chief Syed Jalaluddin Umari has called for a complete liquor ban in the state.

Umari also appreciated Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's decision to ban liquor in Bihar.

According to a report in The Times of India, while addressing the media on the concluding day of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind National members meet in Wadi-e-Huda, Umari said "We welcome prohibition in Bihar. We also want other states to implement this, especially Telangana," while adding that neighbourhoods and towns with high Muslim population should "cleanse" themselves of the ill-effects of alcohol.

The report also adds that Umari condemned the terror outfit Islamic State.

"It is the responsibility of their parents and society who should counsel them. America can finish of Daesh (IS) within five minutes but it hasn't. It is now inviting other nations to join. If it is a danger then finish it off," he said.
