Massive traffic restrictions across Hyd for Modi and Rahul Gandhi campaign visits

Commuters in Hyderabad are likely to face traffic jams across the city on Monday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address a massive public meeting of the BJP at L B Stadium, as Telangana is scheduled to go to the polls on December 7. 

In a message, Hyderabad city commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the traffic restrictions would be in place from 2 pm to 10 pm. 

"At AR Petrol Pump Junction, traffic will not be allowed towards BJR Statue and will be diverted towards Nampally or Ravindra Bharati. Traffic coming from Abids and Gunfoundry side will not be allowed towards BJR Statue and it will be diverted at SBI Gunfoundry towards Chapel road. Traffic coming from Basheerbagh Junction and going towards GPO and Abids will be diverted at towards Hyderguda and King Koti road," the police said in the advisory. 

"Traffic coming from Old MLA quarters towards Basheerbagh will be diverted at old MLA Quarters towards Himayatnagar Y Junction. Traffic coming from Rajmohalla road towards old MLA Quarters will be diverted at Cemetery Junction towards King Koti or YMCA Narayanguda. Traffic coming from King Koti to Basheerbagh via Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will be diverted towards Tajmahal and Cemetery. Traffic coming from Liberty towards Basheerbagh Junction will be diverted towards Himayatnagar," it added. 

The police also said that traffic coming from Hill Fort will be diverted at old PCR junction and will not be allowed to go towards Basheerbagh.

"All citizens are requested to take alternate routes to reach their destinations and to avoid the above routes during the specified timings and cooperate with the Traffic Police. Further citizens are requested to use Metro rail to reach their destination," the advisory stated. 

Meanwhile, in a separate press note, the police also said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi would arrive at the Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad at 4 pm, which may impose further traffic curbs on the city. 

From Begumpet Airport, Gandhi is scheduled to proceed to Sri Ram Nagar X Roads in Jubilee Hills constituency via PNT flyover where he will address a road show. Following this, he will travel to Kukatpally where another meeting is scheduled to be held. He will return to the Begumpet airport at 7 pm, for his departure from the city.
