One killed as bus rams into parked car and topples over in Telangana

15 passengers who were injured have been shifted to a local government hospital.

The state run Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus plying between Hyderabad and Adilabad overturned on Friday, killing a passenger and injuring 15 others in Nirmal district, Telangana.

The incident took place at around 9.25am on the outskirts of Chincholi village. The bus hit a parked car on the road, lost control and toppled over, killing a passenger.

The victim killed in the accident is yet to identified. Police said that he could be 45 years old.

Nirmal Circle Inspector, L Jeevan Reddy, told TNM that 33 passengers were travelling in the bus. Fifteen passengers who suffered injuries, have been shifted to a local government hospital.

Even the bus driver, Kishan, sustained injuries, the police officer added.

“A case has been filed against the bus driver under Section 304 A (causing death due to negligence). We will arrest him as soon as he recovers,” he said.

Minister of Housing, Law and Endowments, A Indrakaran Reddy visited the accident spot along with officials and took stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, according to a recent report of the Ministry of Road Transport, on an average 1,317 accidents and 413 accident deaths take place on Indian roads every day i.e. 55 accidents and 17 deaths every hour.

The report revealed that a total of 480,652 road accidents took place in 2015 causing 150,785 deaths.

Road accidents went up from 28.4% to 29.6% on National highways, said the report.
