Just a day after he finished his 10th exams, 16-year-old Manjeet visited the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad with his family members. But little did he know that a selfie and a misadventure of entering a restricted zone would end his life.

Manjeet who hails from Bihar, and is currently a resident of Ziyaguda, Hyderabad died in a tragic incident when he was trying to climb the rock waterfall in Butterfly park for a selfie on Tuesday evening.

Zoo authorities and Bahadurpura police immediately took him to the zoo clinic but later he was shifted to Osmania Hospital where he was declared dead.

Zoo officials told TNM, ''He died after he had a fatal fall inside the rock water fall which is a no entry zone. We shifted him to our zoo clinic but after observing his pulse rate, we immediately shifted him to Osmania Hospital where he was declared dead. The boy had come to visit the zoo with his relatives''.

Inspector Bahadurpura Harish Kaushik told TNM,

''He had come today to visit the Nehru Zoological Park around 12 PM with his brother in law and sister. His family runs an eatery. Around 1:30 pm, he entered the no-entry zone in the butterfly park to take a selfie from the artificial rock fountain. But unfortunately he fell as he tried to climb this rock.”

Zoo officials say that they will increase the security around the area to ensure that people don’t go inside restricted areas.
