The campaign, brainchild of Telangana, Nizamabad MP, Kalvakuntala Kavitha, is using Raksha Bandhan as an opportunity for women of the state to contribute towards the safety of young motorists.

Kavitha launched the campaign on the birthday of her brother and Minister of Information and Technology KT Rama Rao.

In a media release on the campaign, Kavitha said, “It is the need of the hour to safeguard our brothers and rewrite the tradition by gifting them a helmet this Rakhi, as the numbers of deaths in two-wheeler accidents are much higher than in terrorist attacks.”

The campaign aimed at the safety of motorists was welcomed by many. Sports personalities like Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag appreciated the initiative.

Actors like Rahul Dev, Priyadarshi of Pellichoopulu fame and Director Madhura Sreedhar also joined the campaign and echoed for the safety of the motorists.

Political leaders including Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping  Nitin Gadkari and Poonam Mahajan also came in support of the initiative and applauded Kavitha for leading the road safety campaign.
