Telangana Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar announced on Tuesday that he has tested positive for coronavirus. The Minister said that he is under home isolation and urged everyone who was in contact with him during recent government programmes to get tested. Ajay said that he was doing well and will get back to normal public life soon.
Two days ago, the Minister had attended a few government programmes, including the foundation stone laying ceremony for a road expansion project in Khammam; accompanying his colleague Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy on a tour of the newly constructed IT Hub in Khammam; and participating in a district irrigation advisory meeting with Khammam district heads.

Earlier, Ministers like T Harish Rao, Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Malla Reddy had contracted the virus and recovered from the disease.
The state has 7,272 active cases with 491 new cases reported on Monday. With three deaths recorded on Monday, the death toll stands at 1,499.
The state said it had conducted 48,005 tests on Monday. Of the 491 new cases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had the highest with 102 cases, followed by Rangareddy at 35, Medchal at 33, Karimnagar at 29 and Warangal urban at 28. Jogulamba Gadwal was the only district to record zero cases.
As per the state medical bulletin, those between the age group of 21-30 (23.66%) and 31-40 (23.04%) had the highest rate of coronavirus cases. The percentage of deaths due to comorbidities was 55.4% and deaths due to coronavirus was 44.96%, the bulletin said.
Telangana has a total of 1,094 government testing facilities, including 1,076 rapid antigen testing centres and 18 RT-PCR testing centres.
Meanwhile, on Monday the Directorate of Public Health held a meeting with officials regarding the constitution of committees at the state, district and mandal levels to distribute the coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available.
