A day after the budget 2019-20 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president and son of Telangana CM, K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) slammed the BJP-led Centre and termed the budget “extremely disappointing” and “insipid”.
Attacking the BJP in a series of tweets on Saturday, KTR wrote, “Extremely disappointing & insipid union budget from Telangana’s perspective. Economic survey praises Telangana’s initiatives but FM @nsitharaman Ji completely ignores a performing state’s requests for support.”

Expressing his displeasure, he said that while the NITI Aayog--the policy think tank, had appreciated the irrigation and drinking water projects taken up by Telangana government and recommended the Centre to allocate Rs 24,000 crore, the BJP-led Centre didn’t even allocate Rs 24.
Niti Aayog lauds Mission Kakatiya (lake restoration & strengthening) & Mission Bhagiratha (Drinking water Grid) & recommends to Govt of India to allocate ₹24,000 Cr to these two schemes of Telangana

Strangely, Not even ₹24 allocated by FM @nsitharaman Ji #UnionBudget2019
Questioning why the BJP didn’t accord national project status to Kaleshwaram and Palamuru lift irrigation project, he said, “Telangana state has repeatedly demanded national project status for either Kaleshwaram or Palamuru lift irrigation project on various forums. No mention or even acknowledgement. Are Telangana’s projects not in the interest of our nation FM @nsitharaman Ji??”

He also accused Nirmala Sitharaman of showing 'indifference' towards Telangana. "Even after 5 years of formation of Telangana, no mention of the AP Bifurcation Act promises; integrated steel plant at Bayyaram, Rail Coach factory at Warangal, Tribal University etc. Why this indifference to a promising young state FM @nsitharaman Ji?"

— KTR (@KTRTRS) July 6, 2019
No support for Kakatiya Mega Textile park, not even a mention of ITIR for Hyderabad & zero support for pharmaceutical & life sciences sector where Hyderabad is a Hub#UnionBudget2019
The TRS MPs too had expressed their displeasure at the Union Budget and called it a “pro-rich” budget.
In the budget, the government has also decided to increase customs duty on petrol and diesel products by Rs 1 per litre. The customs duty on gold and precious metals has also been increased from 10% to 12.5%, while the Goods and Service Tax (GST) rate on electric vehicles will be lowered from 12% to 5%. It also said that an additional Income Tax reduction of Rs 1.5 lakh would be given on interest paid on loans taken to purchase electric vehicles.
